my connection to ecuador
Ecuador is where the seed for one little world was planted. After grad school, I lived for a short time in Ecuador, experiencing its vast beauty, from the high Andean Mountains to its gorgeous coastal waters. I went to the large outdoor market in Otavalo, Ecuador surrounded by beautiful goods and thought back to friends telling me to haggle for a low price. This advice felt wrong and I knew the artisans deserved more.

about ecuador
Ecuador is a small country on the equator in the heart of South America. The land contains the world’s largest mega diversity with four distinct regions: the Amazonian rainforest to the east, the Andean highlands to the north and south, coastal plains to the west, and the Galapagos Islands off the coast of the Pacific Ocean. While the country experiences political instability caused by Spanish colonization and the fight for independence, it has a rich culture influenced by a large indigenous population with a rich history of generational craftsmanship.
Meet our artisans

Alonso + mercedes
This amazing couple was one of one little world's very first partnerships ever! Mercedes and Alonso live outside of Otavalo, Ecuador, in the gorgeous Andean Mountains with their two daughters, where they have been crafting their beautiful faux alpaca wraps for years, using a loom passed down for three generations now.

Juan cesar + maria
Juan Cesar, Maria and family live outside of the capital city of Quito, Ecuador, in a small home that they share with their nine children. They handcraft each set of pine branch crayons: they gather fallen pine branches, drill holes, and infuse color.
